Eric Curry was born in Los Angeles, vintage 1956. Raised on sugary breakfast cereals, and Saturday morning cartoons, with healthy doses of “Gilligan’s Island” re-runs thrown in for good measure. Graduating the public schools system with a solid “C” grade point average, he was clearly destined for greatness, or at least a career in the visual arts.

Continuing on, and completing the curriculum from Art Center College of design in 1980 with a BA in photography Eric soon moved to Copenhagen, Denmark where he ran his own advertising photography studio for over ten years, working with the largest agencies in the country such as

O & M, J. Walter Thompson, Y & R and BBDO, helping to marked such brands as Novo,

Bang & Olufson, Pfizer, Maersk Line Shipping, LEGO and Philips Electronics, among others.

After Returning to the Unites States with a renewed appreciation of all things American Eric’s focus has been to press forward with this series of images that celebrate who and where we are as a nation. All the photographs in this ongoing series have been produced as self assigned works that were created in secret for the first two years. It has only been recently that Eric has gone public with the photographs you are looking at now as a single collection.

Coming full circle, it seems appropriate that Eric (through this series of art / faux-advertising images), is now the one making his own visual statement of who and where we are as a nation.

Commenting on the motivation for the photographs, Eric observes: “I find inspiration in the strength of character and the passions my subjects have for their work.”

Currently, Mr. Curry creates photographs exclusively on location for select clients and him self, taking full advantage of the depth and possibilities afforded by each and every new challenge
